High temperatures are expected to be about 15 degrees above normal for the next two days as the transition is made from April to May with 90-degree heat in Sacramento.
A high pressure system was overhead Wednesday morning and skies were clear except for a few high clouds. Early morning temperatures were running 5-to-15 degrees warmer in various locations compared to 24 hours earlier.
The high on Tuesday in Sacramento was 89 degrees. The normal for April 29 is 77.
Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be the hottest days of the week. The high today is forecast to be 92 degrees. Thursday’s high is predicted to come in at 94.
High pressure weakens and quickly shifts east over the weekend, allowing a big cool-down for the Central Valley as onshore flow of air drops temperatures 15 degrees.
