Re "River trail plan riles residents" (Our Region, April 28): When Ryan Lillis interviewed me for his article, he indicated his goal was to present the side of the issue from levee property owners who would be affected. Unfortunately, his article falls well short of capturing the true attitude and concerns of the property owners.

Safety of our homes, family and possessions are first and foremost. Stealing lemons off a tree is a non-factor, as is preserving a vacation feeling. Sacramento cannot provide the needed protection against crime once this trail is built. The police department has indicated they do not have the resources to patrol the levee.

Furthermore, this land grab falls into the category of redistribution of wealth. Hard-working, taxpaying citizens are subjected to being penalized for their success.

The Bee has lobbed a softball when it attempted to present the real story.
