Re "Johnson catapulted onto national stage" (Page A1, April 30): It's heartening to see that Kevin Johnson is embracing the concept of a labor organization as a means to strengthen the integrity of an entity.
Mr. Michelle Rhee has done his household proud. I can imagine the dinner table conversations that must be taking place: how an organized workforce with strong representation can help ensure that a profession remains vibrant and relevant, that workers have an obligation to protect themselves and their product from mismanagement and various abuses of authority, and that the vitality of a profession can only exist when the workers have a strong voice.
It is clear that Kevin's wife will soon reveal this new family perspective and that teacher labor unions will take a renewed status in her attempts to improve education.
