Favorable river flows retain traditional Eppie’s course

The drought will not change the paddling leg of Eppie’s Great Race.

That’s the estimation of the annual triathlon’s race committee. Earlier, the committee had been searching for possible alternate routes for the run-bike-boat race along the American River Parkway.

However, organizers now feel that late spring rains and the meager snow pack will allow the race to take place on the parkway course where it has been held for nearly 40 years.

The race is scheduled for July 19.
