One of three varsity eight-man boats entered by local junior rowing program Capital Crew, above, is placed in the water by crew members on Thursday at Lake Natoma in Folsom.

The USRowing Southwest Junior Regional Championships return to the CSUS Aquatic Center at Lake Natoma this weekend, setting the stage for the national championships at the site on June 13-15.

The championships were held in Oak Ridge, Tenn., the past three years.

“USRowing is excited to bring this event to the West Coast for the first time in its history,” said USRowing Events Manager A.J. Dominique. “The course at Lake Natoma is one of the best in the country, and certainly a fitting venue for this premier event.”
