Traffic moving well early in commute through Fix50 work

Early reports have traffic moving at regular speed through the area where work is being done on the first day of Phase 2 of the Fix50 project.

Lane closures marking the start of Phase 2 of the Fix50 rehab project were delayed, the final changeover coming later Friday morning than expected, but The Bee's transportation reporter Tony Bizjak said at about 6:15 a.m. that the commute was moing smoothly.

The only back-ups for motorists are at the 16th Street exit lane and the 34th Street exit.

Phase 2 of the project closes the two exterior lanes, as three interior lanes re-opened after Phase 1 work was completed.

Also closed on eastbound Highway 50 are the 11th and 16th street on-ramps as well as the connector lanes to southbound Highway 99 and eastbound Business 80.
