Tuck not right for California's schools

Re "Tuck has the energy and vision" (Endorsements, May 4): I was very surprised that The Bee editorial board endorsed an education reformer for California's highest education office, since any diligent reporter would note that the reforms Tuck is espousing to have been tried and have failed in several states over the past decade.

Further, endorsements by charter schools, tech operators and wealthy philanthropists should be alarming as these were the same backers of the failed No Child Left Behind standards, and its equally dangerous Race to the Top funding/CCSS standards, the latter of which has the left and the right arm-in-arm in staunch opposition to.

Perhaps, The Bee should do some more investigation, and, for lack of a good candidate in this race, pull its endorsement.
