Two burglars shot, killed in north Sacramento

Published: Sunday, May. 4, 2014 - 11:53 am

Two people were shot and killed early Sunday morning when they attempted to burglarize a north Sacramento home, according to police.

The victims were not identified but were described as being in their late teens to early twenties. Their gender was not disclosed.

Shortly before 12:18 a.m. Sunday, Sacramento police responded to a call of a residential burglary in progress in the 1000 block of Arcade Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found two people who had been shot. Sacramento fire personnel also responded, and pronounced the two dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation showed that an adult occupant of the home had confronted the burglary suspects and allegedly fired a fire arm in self defense. There were other people in the home at the time, but they were not hurt, and are cooperating with police. It was not known Sunday whether the suspects were armed or had threatened the residents before the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing, and Sacramento police is asking anyone with information on the incident to call the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text a tip to 274637 (CRIMES), enter SACTIP followed by the information. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
