Re "Arena agreement not finalized; City Council vote postponed" (May 3): Why would a sports fanatic want to leave the comfort of his or her home with access to high-definition television to watch a sporting event? The response is easy: to enjoy the thrill of teaching a youngster the game or to just simply get out of the house and get rowdy.

At Sleep Train Arena, the Kings' home arena, this isn't possible. The environment is bland and lacks basic structure compared to other great arenas. Fortunately, the Kings' new ownership has constructed a plan to build a new arena in Sacramento's Downtown Plaza.

If the Sacramento City Council's vote on the new downtown arena for the Kings isn't taking place May 13 like planned, how will it be ready to open in time for the 2017-18 basketball season as it was agreed to?
