After a slight chance of showers early in the week, absolutely splendid spring weather is forecast for Sacramento.
The National Weather Service reports Monday that a low pressure system dropping southeastward across Northern California will bring cloudiness, below normal temperatures and a chance of showers into Tuesday.
The government forecasters believe that the best chance for showers will occur this afternoon and tonight. Then, dry and warmer weather returns by mid-week.
The normal high temperature for Cinco de Mayo in Sacramento is 78 degrees. Mondays high is expected to come in at 73.
Today: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 73. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph.
Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. South southwest wind 5 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers before 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph.
Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52. North northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 79. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.
