The refurbishment and re-opening of a Denny’s diner near Madison and Interstate 80 on Tuesday means free meals for early arrivals.

The Denny’s at 5120 Interstate Ave. has operated at that location for 45 years. It re-opens Tuesday with a new design and menu, part of a chain-wide effort in which 70 percent of Denny’s will be remodeled by 2018.

To mark the occasion, beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, the first 100 diners through the door will get a free Grand Slam breakfast, which includes two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, two bacon strips and two sausages.

Then, beginning at noon, the first 25 lunch diners to come to the restaurant get a free Classic burger and fries. At 6 p.m., the first 25 dinner guests get a free entrée valued at $10 or less.
