Strawberry festival

What: BerryFest celebrates the coming of the harvest of strawberries and other tasty berries. The two-day event includes a pancake breakfast, three stages of live entertainment and kitchen demonstrations. There also will be a carnival and crafts.

When: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday

Where: Placer County Fairgrounds, 800 All America City Blvd., Roseville

Wine festival

What: The 10th annual ZinFest Wine Festival returns to Lodi with 250 handcrafted local wines (from albariño to zinfandel), hourly cooking demonstrations, live music and regional cuisines. On Sunday, local wineries offer open houses.

Where: Lodi Lake Park, 1101 W. Turner Road, Lodi

Cost: $55 advance; $65 day of event for festival; winery open houses require no ticket.

Learn to taste

olive oil

What: Learn tasting techniques and how to get the best quality olive oil for the best value in this class taught by professional taster Orietta Gianjorio of the UC Davis Olive Oil Taste Panel and the California Olive Oil Council.
