Big Day of Giving triples expectations in Sacramento

The Big Day of Giving on Tuesday was really big, raising more than $3 million for nonprofits in the Sacramento region.

The goal was to raise $1 million. However, when all the giving was done the total was $3,020,000 from 18,915 donors who went to the website The money will go to 394 non-profit groups in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado counties.

The BIG Day of Giving is an online giving event that provides donors in the Sacramento region the opportunity to give money to participating organizations within a 24-hour period.

The giving event is part of a national philanthropic event. Tuesday’s event in Sacramento got off to a fast start with $1 million raised in about five minutes.
