Re "Senate Republicans call for VA Secretary to resign" (Page A6, May 7): Up to 40 patients may have died in Phoenix because of delays in care. Senators John Cornyn, Jerry Moran and Richard Burr have called for the resignation of former Army General Eric Shinseki based on this poorly documented allegation.
These three senators, among many others, have opposed the Affordable Care Act, climate change and banking reform, while their colleagues wasted time and money trying scuttle the now succeeding health care for poorer Americans. Harvard School of Public Health estimates, that lacking medical insurance, 45,000 Americans died yearly from preventable diseases. That death ratio is greater than 1:1000, yet these ideologs offered no improvements nor other alternatives.
These three lawyers do not know about what they are advocating in medicine, climate science or economics. It is easy to be negative when you cannot do better.
