Sprinkles tonight but clear and warm on Mother’s Day

A 30 percent chance of rain is forecast for Thursday night in Sacramento.

Looking ahead to Sunday, the National Weather Service is predicting blue skies and above normal temperatures for Mother’s Day and the arrival of the Amgen Tour of California bicycle race.

A weak cold front is expected to move through the Pacific Northwest and Northern California Thursday afternoon and night, but the weather system packs little rain. On Sunday, daytime highs really start to warm.

The high on Mother’s Day in Sacramento is expected to reach 86 degrees in Sacramento, which is about 6 degrees above normal for May 11. By Monday, interior Northern California is forecast to be fully into a hot and dry weather pattern, with daytime highs 6 to 10 degrees above normal.

Until then, the Delta breeze is flowing into Sacramento Thursday morning and the day should be pleasant. The high today is expected to be a cool 73 degrees.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. South southwest wind 9 to 11 mph.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. South wind 8 to 10 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. South wind around 7 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. South southwest wind around 7 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 78. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming northwest in the morning.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 86.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 90.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 94.
