An Illinois company has acquired SynapSense Corp., the Folsom-based data center management firm started in 2006.
Panduit Corp., founded in 1955 and based in Tinley Park, Ill., offers hardware and software products used in data centers, operating in more than 100 countries.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Neither party would disclose how many employees work for SynapSense.
Panduit spokeswoman Debra Brinkman said Thursday that SynapSense will continue to operate at its corporate offices at 340 Palladio Parkway and will now be known as SynapSense, a Panduit company.
SynapSense provides wireless systems for managing temperatures inside data centers. Its systems are used internationally and credited with creating significant energy savings for data center operators.
“The SynapSense team has a proven track record of success, helping data center managers reduce energy costs, unlock stranded capacity and sustain savings over time,” said Tom Donovan, president of Panduit. “SynapSense is a service-oriented technology company that will bring tremendous value to our customers.”
“We now have the most comprehensive data center infrastructure management suite available and are very proud to be part of the Panduit family,” said Bart Tichelman, who was named SynapSense CEO in November 2012.
Officials said Tichelman on Thursday became a vice president of Panduit.
SynapSense products are now available in North America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Panduit said it will expand the availability of SynapSense technology in the coming months.
