Re "Millennials just don't fit boomers' mold" (Forum, May 4): I was nodding along to James Morrison's piece on the millennial generation until he got to the part about libertarianism among the younger generation and stopped right in my tracks.
Libertarianism is an amorphous term that can mean many things, but I'm assuming he means the economic kind. If so, we're in real trouble, and in two or three decades we'll see another voice of their generation lodging the same complaints.
Take it from an older and wiser Gen Xer, who has seen the debilitating effects for Ayn Rand writ large from the dawn of Reaganism, right on through to the tea party. Realize that we've already tried economic libertarianism, and it's the reason for all of Morrison's stated complaints.
Trust me, the future looked much brighter when the New Deal was our legacy.
