Searching for state jobs not that difficult

Re "State's titles can be an inside job" (The State Worker, May 8): As a state worker, the jobs website is admittedly in dire need of a makeover. However, an interested, competent attorney would not start their search with "lawyer" but with "attorney."

While the naming conventions can be confusing, this example is not only weak but reflects the author's bias. With more than 200,000 state workers, state jobs are clearly not impossible to obtain. For those stumbling on the lingo and code of conduct, resources are available. CalHR even offers tutorials under the "Job Seekers" section of its website.

In fact, all jobs have their own lingo and code of conduct, and it is the responsibility of the applicant to conduct the necessary research if interested in the position. Why would the state be different? To open the state civil service door, one must simply knock.
