A woman is recovering from injuries after she was shot on an Interstate 5 on-ramp in Greenhaven on Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to the area after a caller reported hearing shots fired and seeing a woman on the ground on the northbound Interstate 5 on-ramp from 43rd Avenue, according to police.

Investigators later learned that she was shot multiple times after getting out of a car at the on-ramp, said police Officer Michele Gigante. It’s unclear whether she was forced from the car or got out voluntarily, she said.

The vehicle left the scene after the shooting. Police do not know how many people were in the car or their relationship to the woman, who is in her late 20s or early 30s. Police did not release any suspect descriptions.
