Human bones found during sewer line excavation in Isleton

Published: Tuesday, May. 13, 2014 - 7:24 pm

Sacramento County sheriff’s officials say human bones discovered by a property owner during excavation in Isleton have been turned over to the Coroner’s Office for identification.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said the department received a call about 1:45 p.m. Monday from the owner of the Hotel Del Rio in the 200 block of Second Street in Isleton stating that bones were found while digging to put in a sewer line. The case was turned over to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, which has indicated that they are human bones, Bowman said.

The coroner will determine the cause of death and whether it was suspicious in nature, warranting investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
