Would you like to wake up with Guy Fieri in the morning? Not the Food Network megastar (and former Sacramento chef), but a cup of his Guy Fieri Flavortown roast coffee, now available in Keurig-compatible single-serve cups.

The signature flavor — Guy’s American Diner Blend — is a salute to Fieri’s popular show, “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”

“One thing you know about a diner is that they’ve got a great cup o’ joe,” Fieri said. “So, here you go!”

Rolling out into grocery stores nationwide, the Flavortown coffees come in eight flavors, some of which may be better with dessert than breakfast. May be they ARE dessert. Here are Fieri’s descriptions:

Bananas Foster: “Sweet banana, caramelized sugar and cinnamon flavors — brings me back to my days as a flambé captain!”

Caramel Apple Bread Pudding: “All the flavor from my righteous Caramel Apple Bread Pudding stuffed into your mug.”

Chocolate Mint: “The rich and creamy taste of chocolate and cool, fresh mint is perfect any time of year.”

Hazelnut Cinnamon Roll: “Toasted hazelnut and big cinnamon flavors make this brew dessert in a mug.”

Hot Fudge Brownie: “My chocolate-on-chocolate Hot Fudge Brownie coffee comes to you straight from Flavortown!”

Redwood Roast: “Big, bold and strong like the mighty redwoods, this French roast will get your engine started.”

Unleaded Decaf: “Full of rich medium roast flavor, just packin’ a little less horsepower.”

Fieri’s spin could shake up the coffee aisle, said Tim Cook, president of Single Cup Coffee, the company distributing the new line.

“Many of the coffee choices for Keurig owners have been the same for years,” Cook said. “Guy Fieri is adding fresh new options and one-of-a-kind flavors.”

To heighten the dessert-in-a-mug taste, Single Cup Coffee suggests adding cream and sugar to those flavorful blends. They already have mouth-watering scents. As the Caramel Apple coffee brewed, the smell of sweet baked apples filled the room. While brewing, Bananas Foster smelled more like broiled bananas than coffee, but the pleasant taste was nicely balanced with cinnamon. Both chocolates bordered on mocha (no complaints here). The Hazelnut Cinnamon Roll was a pleasing twist on two familiar flavors.

As for the Diner Blend and Redwood Roast, they’re nicely balanced coffees —no additional flavors needed.
