Re "Will city choose progress?" (Our Region, May 14): Recently, I was sitting in a candidate's night forum between Jay Schenirer and Ali Cooper, and I was thinking exactly what Marcos Breton chronicled, "Who is Ali Cooper and why does he think he is worthy of our votes for the City Council?"
Isn't a candidate supposed to accomplish something for the citizens of District 5 before asking them for their votes? Cooper's union backers care little for the problems of the district. They just want his vote on their wage and benefit hikes.
Schenirer has stood up to these interests and continues to pay the price for doing so. He is far and away the best choice for City Council District 5.
