Why no coverage of Susan G. Komen race?

Published: Thursday, May. 15, 2014 - 7:05 am

I expected more from The Bee. As a reader for more than 30 years, I was amazed that the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure received no press. As I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and a survivor of six months, I rely on such organizations to help spread the word of cancer research, prevention and cure.

My diagnosis was excellent as I got my annual mammogram and found my cancer early. With my highly skilled surgeon, Dr. Elizabeth Kim, I am a survivor. My race/walk team donated $600, but the race brought in $1 million.

Isn't that news? Isn't this a testament to the importance of spreading Susan G. Komen's success? About 75 percent of the proceeds of the race stay in Sacramento for the good of the community. This should be covered.
