Placer sheriff’s deputies offer horse camp for kids

Published: Thursday, May. 15, 2014 - 11:41 am

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office is accepting sign-ups for its annual Ride With Pride, an equestrian day camp for elementary school children.

Four one-day camp sessions will be held June 9, 10, 11 and 12 at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn. The free program is open to children ages 7-to-12.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office, all with horse experience, developed the program, which features sessions in which children learn about the care, handling and riding of horses. Youngsters are paired with deputies and their horse partners.

Classes will be 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day and a free lunch will be provided.

For information or to register, call Community Services Officer Lynn Harrison at (916) 652-2419, or email her at lharriso@placer.ca.gov.
