Big first paves way for seventh win in a row

• Highlight: Colin Walsh singled and doubled in his Triple-A debut, Alden Carrithers had three hits, and the River Cats scored seven runs in the first inning en route to an 11-5 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers on Friday night at Raley Field. The win was the River Cats’ seventh straight.

•  Short stint: Rainiers starter Andrew Carraway faced five batters in the first inning, allowed four consecutive hits and a walk and was pulled after 38 pitches.

•  Load ’em up: Nate Freiman of the Cats has batted 12 times with the bases loaded this season and is 6 for 12 with 18 RBIs.

•  Red-hot Cat: Sacramento’s Jose Martinez extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

•  Comforts of home: The River Cats’ bullpen has a 6-1 record with a 2.79 ERA at home, the team has a 12-0 mark when leading after the seventh inning and a 9-1 record in one-run games at Raley Field. Jeremy McBryde leads the pack for the bullpen, having allowed no runs in 121/3 innings.
