Teams from El Dorado County and Davis bested a field of 24 teams from 10 California counties competing Saturday in the 29th annual Nature Bowl at California State University, Sacramento.
The event tests teams of three to seven students in science-based activities, emphasizing the local and regional environment. Teams are divided into third- and fourth-grade students and fifth- and sixth-grade students.
Claiming first place in the third- and fourth-grade division was the Shingle Springs campus of the California Montessori Project. Two teams shared first place in the fifth- and sixth-grade division, Korematsu Elementary in Davis and Lake Forest Elementary in El Dorado Hills.
Second-place honors in the third- and fourth-grade division were split by Latrobe Elementary in Shingle Springs and Korematsu. Third place went to Rancho Murieta Cub Scouts Pack 633. Second place in the fifth- and sixth-grade division went to Patwin Elementary from Davis. Calavaras County’s Valley Springs Elementary placed third.
