Fatal crash on Fair Oaks Boulevard

Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed in Fair Oaks Boulevard crash

Published: Tuesday, May. 20, 2014 - 8:49 am

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the motorcyclist killed Monday when he collided with a car pulled out of a driveway on Fair Oaks Boulevard.

Mark Charles Glorioso, 46, of Carmichael was killed and two others were injured Monday afternoon when two motorcycles collided with the car in Carmichael.

Glorioso, one of the motorcyclists, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the car suffered major injuries, and the second motorcycle rider, also a man, had moderate to major injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 3:11 p.m. Monday, when two motorcycles – a Triumph and Yamaha – were traveling east on Fair Oaks Boulevard, just east of Miles Lane.

“They were in the right lane and traveling at a high rate of speed,” said CHP Officer Chad Hertzell.

At the time, the woman was pulling forward out of her driveway in a white Ford Taurus on the south side of Fair Oaks Boulevard.

“She pulled out, and both motorcycles saw her and applied the brakes hard,” said Hertzell.

Glorioso’s motorcycle ran into the driver’s side door and he was killed on impact.

The other motorcycle rider ejected himself to avoid colliding with the car. “He skidded, and was injured from the skid,” said Hertzell.

It was not known how fast the two motorcycles were going at the time, but speed may be a factor. The speed limit in the area is 40 mph.

“They may have been racing, but we haven’t talked to the (surviving) motorcyclist,” said Herzell. “Witnesses report they were going at a high rate of speed.”
