Re "Santa Cruz making water wasters pay" (Capitol and California, May 9): I agree with Santa Cruz having its citizens pay for wasting water. As bad as the drought is, us Californians cannot be wasteful. We have to be conservative.
They need to start rationing more, especially when their freshwater source- the San Lorenzo River- is shrinking. Santa Cruz is the model for how other cities should rationalize their major water sources. People need to wake up and realize we won't always have water if we continue to use it like this.
It's a gift to have water, and it needs to be appreciated wisely. Water isn't a supply thats always going to be around like others.
