Sunday looks to be the hottest day of the Memorial Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Government forecasters are calling for a high of 96 degrees on Sunday in Sacramento. That’s about 14 degrees above normal for latter part of May.
Memorial Day graveside visits to place flowers will be best done in the morning because Monday also is expected to be quite toasty, with a predicted high of 92 degrees.
Look for a cooling trend next week as the high-pressure system over Northern California breaks down.
