Re "Change in the Air for DA's Office" (Page A-1, May 23): There was a district attorney candidates debate Thursday. Clearly, Todd Leras outshone Anne Marie Schubert, The Bee's choice. Leras demonstrated a seasoned, balanced and well-spoken grasp of the issues. He is a leader. An example: Leras favors ending the death penalty in California. Schubert pretended to be indignant that Leras dared to tell a little girl that her daddy's killer might not himself die. Leras' apt response: The job of the prosecutor is justice not vengeance. Or maybe she really was indignant. If you've spent an entire career as a prosecutor, you would know only the victim's side of any story.
