Summer weather arrives with Memorial Day

Summer weather is here.

The Sacramento region will see temperatures reaching close to 100 degrees during the Memorial Day weekend, peaking at 97 degrees on Sunday.

Saturday’s high temperature is expected to hit 93 degrees. Johnnie Powell, a forecaster with the National Weather Service, said a high pressure ridge is pushing area temperatures into above average territory. Average temperatures for this time of year are in the 80-degree range.

“It’s a little above normal,” Powell said. “Hey, enjoy summer.”

Here’s the seven-day forecast:

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming west northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64. West northwest wind around 7 mph becoming south after midnight.

Sunday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 64. West wind 3 to 6 mph.

Memorial Day: Sunny, with a high near 93. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 88.

Tuesday night: Clear, with a low around 56.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 85.

Wednesday night: Clear, with a low around 58.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 86.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81.
