Four people rescued after boating accident on American River

Four people were rescued Saturday night from the American River after a boating accident near the “Gilligan’s Island” sandbar, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reported.

The victims were flown by Placer County Sheriff’s Department’s Falcon 30 helicopter to the William Pond Recreation Area, said Capt. Michelle Eidam, fire district spokeswoman.

One person was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries and the other three reported no injuries, Eidam said.
