Re "Share who serve keeps shrinking" (Page A1, May 26) The article about how most Americans support the Military but many cannot relate to the experience is an interesting overview. I can remember telling non-military background or experienced friends that one time when I was deployed, I went 13 days without a shower.
When I went on to explain how good it felt to finally clean up, I could tell by the looks of most of their faces they were thinking, "What is the big deal?"
Well, it was a big deal as are all the sacrifices that military service members make over theirs careers, no matter how long they serve. A recent book "Breach of Trust" written by Andrew "Skip" Bacevich provides an interesting recommendation on how to broaden military experience in our society.
