Cooler weather forecast after Memorial weekend heat in Sacramento

Cooler weather is forecast for the remainder of the week as the Delta breeze has kicked in.

The high on Memorial Day in Sacramento hit 95 degrees, seven degrees shy of the record for May 26, but still hot. With a low-pressure system now exerting influence over Northern California, look for a high of just 87 degrees Tuesday.

Breezy conditions are forecast by the National Weather Service, especially in the mountains and the Delta. Other afternoon high temperatures forecast for Tuesday:

Woodland: 89 degrees

Roseville: 88

Placerville: 82

Yuba City: 89

Grass Valley: 81

South Lake Tahoe: 72

San Francisco: 71

Fairfield: 81

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind around 8 mph.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 55. South-southwest wind 6 to 11 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 84. North-northwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. North-northwest wind 7 to 13 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 89. Northwest wind around 9 mph.
