Icing On the Cupcake will hold its grand opening

Food fads come and go, but some stick around. Ramen burgers, sous-vide cooking, Sriracha sauce, grilled octopus and bacon served many ways, for instance.

Cupcakes, too. In this case, Icing on the Cupcake, the former three-store mini-chain that declared bankruptcy in January and has been reincarnated in Rocklin under new ownership.

The store has announced its official grand opening starting at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The celebration will feature raffles and prizes, giveaways and free samples from the menu of 35 gourmet cupcakes, cookies and brownies.

Set the GPS for 6839 Lonetree Blvd., Rocklin. Regular store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. More at (916) 303-4333 and
