Republic FC will play a friendly against the historic Rangers Football Club of Scotland on July 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Bonney Field, the USL Pro expansion team’s new home at Cal Expo.
The Rangers, based in Glasgow and founded in 1872, are one of the original members of the Scottish Football League. They have been one of the world’s most successful soccer clubs and were the first to win 100 major trophies.
The Rangers became insolvent in 2012 before being bought by a new company and re-launched as a third division Scottish Football League team last season.
The match against Republic FC is one of four friendlies the Rangers will play during their 12-day preseason North American tour.
Republic FC season-tickets holders will receive tickets to the match as part of their ticket plans. Individual tickets will go on sale June 12 at ticketmaster.com.

Gonzales to fight DeGale on Saturday in London
Sacramento’s Brandon Gonzales (18-0-1, 10 knockouts) will face England’s James DeGale (18-1, 12 KOs) in a super-middleweight title elimination bout Saturday in London’s Wembley Stadium.
Gonzales, 30, and DeGale, 28, are the International Boxing Federation’s No. 3 and No. 4 contenders. The winner of the scheduled 12-rounder could be the next challenger for the IBF and World Boxing Association titles, held by Carl Froch (32-2-0, 23 KOs), who is defending his 168-pound belts against No. 6 contender and fellow English fighter George Groves (19-1-0, 15 KOs) in the main event of the Wembley card.
DeGale, a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, has fought 12 rounds five times. Gonzales, who trains in the Bay Area, has gone 10 rounds only twice.
