With polls open, a few reminders from Sacramento registrar

It’s Election Day and the polls opened at 7 a.m.

They will remain open until 8 p.m. Tuesday. If in line when the polls close, citizens will be allowed to vote, although long lines are not a likely scenario given that a low voter turnout is predicted.

An indication of the lack of enthusiasm this election is reflected in the number of mail-in ballots that have been filled out and returned to the elections office in Sacramento County. Of the 408,939 ballots that were sent out to county voters, only 83,581 have been returned.

The Sacramento County Registrar of Voters reminds vote-by-mail voters that if their ballots have not been mailed, don’t put it in the mail box. The ballot won’t be counted because it is too late to mail.

Instead, take the signed mail-in ballot to any Sacramento County polling place by 8 p.m.

To vote in person, the proper polling place can be found by:

Checking the back of the sample ballot

Going online to www.elections.saccounty.net to use the polling place lookup. Use our custom Voter Guide.
