Sacramento County elections officials report that 77,700 ballots remain to be counted following Tuesday’s primary election.

Of those, an estimated 74,500 are vote-by-mail ballots and 3,200 are provisional ballots. Voters receive provisional ballots when their registration is in question.

The county has 28 days following the election to complete the count. But with the smaller than usual voter turnout, Alice Jarboe, assistant to the registrar of voters, said the Elections Office hopes to have all votes counted in about two weeks. The office is scheduled to to issue its next update Friday afternoon.
