“WuMo” arrives in Bee’s comics pages

Change can be difficult, but it can also give you something to laugh about.

In March, “Doonesbury” creator Garry Trudeau put the daily production of his long-running comic on indefinite hiatus to focus on his Amazon show, “Alpha House.” Since then, The Bee has been running “Doonesbury Flashbacks” while looking for a replacement (although one could argue that it’s impossible to replace Trudeau’s unique brand of satire and storytelling).

Today, we’d like to introduce you to “WuMo” (Page B4) from writer Mikael Wulff and illustrator Anders Morgenthaler, a comic that’s gone from underground sensation to mainstream success. Wildly different from “Doonesbury,” “WuMo” nonetheless mines chuckles from modern life’s abundant absurdities and ironies. We hope you enjoy it.

Trudeau is still creating new strips for Sunday. You will find Mike Doonesbury, B.D., Zonker Harris and his other indelible characters there.
