Re "Judge rejects state laws on teacher tenure, firing" (Page A1, June 11): This notion of a union choke hold on schools is misleading. Having served as a teacher for 11 years and in numerous talks with union representatives and administrators, I have learned that school inequality is a much more dynamic issue than people understand. For instance, my second year teaching in a local school, one of the hardest in the area, I was not evaluated once. This year, an administrator came in to my classroom on two occasions, but there has been no follow-up. The fact is that administrators has spread too thin. Many teachers desire far more input than they are receiving. And in perhaps receiving essential feedback teachers, administrators, and ultimately society at large, would benefit without the need to point fingers.
