Re "Information on oil trains can't get sidetracked" (Editorial, June 11): The oil trains through Sacramento deserve scrutiny, but let's review the root problem. It's proven that the safest, most efficient and environmentally friendly means of oil transport is a pipeline.
The Bakken and Canadian oil was planned to ship to Gulf Coast refineries via the Keystone pipeline. This pipeline route, construction, environmental impact and safety was reviewed numerous times in the smallest detail and always approved.
However, the Obama administration continues to delay construction and now has reported they will make a decision after the election. Shipping oil via trains through our community with this inherent danger is entirely due to the delay and incompetence of this administration. A competent and capable administration would have acted long ago and at this date the safe, efficient pipeline would be nearly complete.
