Re "Four-way contest for state controller creates drama" (Capitol & California, June 13): Although Republican contender/current Fresno mayor Ashley Swearengin appears to be the new darling candidate for State Controller, voters need to be aware of her Palinesque quality.
Elected to a second term as Fresno's mayor on the promise of completing the work she began, voters took the bait. Less than halfway into her second term, she is now running a full-time campaign for higher office. This begs the question What happens if she's elected and aspirations of higher office come calling? Will she tamp her personal political aspirations or do the right thing and remain in the office she was elected to?
