Yolo County authorities seek dog that bit woman in Woodland

Published: Friday, Jun. 13, 2014 - 5:09 pm

Yolo County Animal Services authorities ask the public’s help in finding a dog that bit a woman in Woodland last weekend.

The incident occurred about 8 p.m. Saturday as the woman was walking in the area of Nugget Market at 157 Main St., on the Court Street side. She reportedly attempted to pet a loose stray dog and was bitten.

The woman told authorities that she had not seen the dog before, and no owner or other responsible person was with the dog at the time.

The bite was reported to Animal Services by the victim’s medical provider, and efforts to find the dog have been unsuccessful.

The woman described the animal as a multicolor cattle dog of medium size.

Anyone with information pertaining to the incident, or the location of the dog’s owner is asked to call the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, Animal Services Section, at (530) 668-5287, or email animal.bite@yolocounty.org. Identifying the dog and verifying a current rabies vaccination could spare the victim post-exposure rabies treatment.
