I have recently had a bad experience with two elected officials who are supposed to be representing me.
Recently I called the office of my Assemblyperson, Beth Gaines, offering to be her representative at the Capitol on Holocaust Remembrance Day. My grandparents perished during the Holocaust and I have been active on the committee that plans the community-wide event for about 20 years.
More recently I called the office of my State Senator, Ted Gaines, to ask if the public would be allowed to attend the memorial service at the Capitol for the late Senator John Vasconcellos whom I've known for many years.
No one from either office returned my calls. Is it because I'm a Democratic activist?
I thought our elected officials were supposed to represent all of their constituents.
