Acting on net neutrality

Re "Political satirists rip into big government and corporate hegemony" (Editorial, June 8): Allowing oligopolistic service providers to control the way we receive data, to their own benefit, is completely unacceptable. Comcast has already started by charging Netflix extra fees to provide consumers with mediocre data speeds. Hulu has had no apparent fees charged, despite providing the same service.

I urge Representative Nancy Pelosi, and Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer to speak on behalf of the people who elected them. Tell FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler, a former cable lobbyist, not to continue with the proposed plan that would allow Internet Service Providers to charge for preferential treatment. These ISPs should be reclassified as Title 2 Common Carrier Telecommunications Services because that's what they are. Any other classification allows them to use loopholes to bypass laws put in place by FCC in 2005.

Please save the Internet from being the cartel-led industry that cable-television is.
