Published: Monday, Jun. 16, 2014 - 5:12 pm

A Lincoln woman escaped a fire in her home this morning after she was alerted by her dog.

The Lincoln Fire Department responded at 7:15 a.m. to a report of a house fire in the 1300 block of Fifth St. A police officer on patrol in the area reported smoke coming from the attic on arrival, according to a Fire Department news release. Based on the initial 911 call and the officer’s information, assistance was requested from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the Rocklin Fire Department.

Fire crews found a fire that extended into the attic above the kitchen, front room and hallway. It was controlled within 25 minutes.

Fire officials said the interior of the house suffered moderate smoke and water damage. The Red Cross arrived to assist in relocating the two adult residents of the home.
