Re "Region cuts water use 18 percent" (Environment, June 17): Having moved to Sacramento from the East Coast in December, we quickly became water-obsessed Californians as we read the drought stories. After months of religiously following the water conservation suggestions, I will admit to wondering "Is everyone really doing this?" That is why I was so happy to read that water use has, indeed dropped 18 percent.
That story should have appeared on the front page. What's more, I think the Regional Water Authority should release data for the individual agencies in the area. If it became a competition, we'd really see civic pride in action as each town sought to out-save the others.
