Re "California lags badly on water conservation, analysts say (Page A1, June 18): Whether we can or can't conserve a little more water doesn't concern me as much the fact that no one is doing anything to prohibit the sale of fireworks during the days leading up to the fourth of July. Why? Our land is extremely dry. People from neighboring counties that prohibit the sale of fireworks make their annual trek to counties that allow sales and return home with their purchases. Please, don't mention drought or water conservation and expect it to be taken seriously unless we first stop selling fire hazards.
