Shiva Frentzen, a Cameron Park Community Services District director, has announced her candidacy for El Dorado County’s District 2 supervisor seat to be filled in a September special election.
Frentzen is president of CAL Internet Services & Eldoradobusiness.com, and is past president of the El Dorado County and Shingle Springs/Cameron Park chambers of commerce. She was elected to the Cameron Park Community Services District board or directors in 2010. Frentzen has lived in Cameron Park for 22 years.
In a news release announcing her candidacy, Frentzen said she has been endorsed by public safety and business leaders, and local elected officials, including Vicky Neibauer, president of the Cameron Park Community Services District board; John Hidahl, an El Dorado Hills fire district board member; Suzanna George, a Rescue Union School District trustee; and Sam Bradley, a former El Droado County supervisor.
The Board of Supervisors has set Sept. 9 as the date for a special election to fill the seat previously held by Ray Nutting. A judge declared that Nutting must forfeit his elected office because of misdemeanor convictions over how he raised bail money following his arrest last year on felony charges of political malfeasance. He was acquitted of the felony charges, but the judge determined the misdemeanor offenses constituted “misconduct in office” and declared Nutting’s seat vacant June 6.
The nomination period for the special election will begin June 30 and conclude July 18.
