A bit hotter than earlier forecast in Sacramento

Instead of a string of low 90-degree days, the National Weather Service is now calling for mid-90s in Sacramento through the weekend.

The high Thursday is expected to be an uncomfortable 96 degrees during the hottest part of the day. National Weather Service forecasters expect that the lack of a Delta breeze will produce temperatures that are a half dozen degrees above normal in the Sacramento region from Thursday through Sunday.

Forecasters expect temperatures in the Delta to be in the mid-to-upper 80s and mainly in the 70s to 80s in the mountains and the foothills.

The detailed, 7-day forecast from the NWS for the Sacramento region:

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 96. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 58. South southeast wind 5 to 9 mph.

Friday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 96. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday night: Clear, with a low around 59. South wind 7 to 9 mph.
